For our senior embryology team, having access to the latest technology is just as important as their advanced professional training and ongoing development — it helps us optimise every treatment for our patients.

What is EmbryoScope?

EmbryoScope is a state-of-the-art incubator that replicates the conditions of the uterus and features a built-in camera that allows real-time observation of embryo cell division. It captures images throughout the entire embryo development process up to the blastocyst stage, helping to determine the optimal moment for embryo transfer.

This pioneering technology gives us comprehensive information about embryo development without altering the culture conditions — which would otherwise expose embryos to environmental stress. It also enables our embryologists to carry out detailed studies and, with a deeper understanding of each embryo’s characteristics, select the one with the greatest potential for achieving pregnancy.

Thanks to EmbryoScope, you will have the first video of your future baby.

How does EmbryoScope improve treatment outcomes?

  • No handling required: Thanks to the built-in camera, there is no need to remove embryos from the incubator to assess their development. They are only taken out at the right moment for embryo transfer.
  • Better embryo selection: The system creates a video that our embryologists review on an external monitor, providing real-time information on each embryo’s cell divisions and enabling them to select the highest-quality embryo.
  • Stable culture conditions: Embryos maintain optimal culture conditions — temperature, gas concentration, pH, and light — throughout their entire development, avoiding environmental stress.

Higher success rates

EmbryoScope provides comprehensive information on embryo development thanks to time-lapse imaging, which allows our team to study developmental kinetics. Research has shown that the pace of cell divisions can indicate which embryos have the highest implantation potential. It also allows us to identify possible developmental abnormalities that were previously undetectable.

By avoiding environmental stress and improving embryo selection, we are able to increase the success rates of our patients’ treatments.

EmbryoScope is recommended for any IVF treatment, but it is especially advisable when undergoing preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A) In PGT-A cycles, the embryo biopsy must be performed once the embryo has reached the blastocyst stage (day 5–6 of culture) and has started to expand. To check whether this has occurred without a time-lapse incubator (EmbryoScope), embryologists must remove the embryos from the incubator for microscopic assessment — increasing the environmental stress on the embryo.
