EMBRACE test: non-invasive genetic analysis for embryo selection

    What is the EMBRACE test?

A non-invasive preimplantation genetic analysis solution that identifies the embryos most likely to have the correct number of chromosomes, increasing the chances of achieving a healthy pregnancy — without the need for an embryo biopsy.

How does the EMBRACE test analyse embryo chromosomes?

After IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) treatment, the embryos develop to the blastocyst stage inside laboratory incubators, in culture dishes containing the nutrients needed for proper development. Recent research has shown that the embryo releases DNA fragments into this culture medium, making it possible to obtain chromosomal information by analysing the medium itself — without having to biopsy the embryo.

How reliable is the EMBRACE test?

The EMBRACE test has a lower reliability rate than standard preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A), with a current accuracy of around 80%, and in up to 10% of cases it may not yield results. This means the test is useful for prioritising the transfer of one embryo over another, but not for ruling out theoretically abnormal embryos, since they would still have a 20% chance of being chromosomally normal.

The EMBRACE test is recommended for patients for whom standard PGT-A is not indicated but who want to maximise their chances of achieving pregnancy as soon as possible. It is suitable for patients undergoing any treatment in which egg fertilisation takes place in the laboratory: IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), ROPA method (Reception of Oocytes from Partner), egg donation, or testicular biopsy.
