Egg Donors

Want to Become an Egg Donor?

Young, healthy women who fit the profile of egg donors for egg donation treatments

Did you know that the eggs you don’t use each month are naturally lost? By donating those eggs, you help other women fulfil their dream of becoming mothers.

If you are thinking about becoming an egg donor, come and see us — you will be looked after by a team of gynaecologists and nurses specialising in fertility.

Egg donation is anonymous, voluntary, and altruistic under Spanish law.

“Law 14/2006 of 26 May on assisted human reproduction techniques establishes that donation must be anonymous, voluntary, informed, and non-remunerated.”

As part of the egg donor screening we carry out a complete gynaecological examination, an ovarian reserve assessment, and a genetic profile.

How the egg donation process works

Informative interview with a nurse

We explain the entire process: timelines, medication, monitoring appointments, and egg retrieval (pick-up).

We will take a copy of your ID (DNI, NIE, or passport) and an ID photograph.

Gynaecological and psychological assessment

We will open your medical record.

We will evaluate your general health and carry out a blood test (serology and hormones), a complete gynaecological examination (smear test + ultrasound scan + antral follicle count), and a genetic study. We will also record your weight and height.

You will receive all the documentation and informed consent forms needed to begin treatment if you wish to join the egg donor programme.

You will also have an appointment with the clinic’s psychologist — emotional wellbeing matters too.

Results and consultation with your doctor and nurse

Your doctor will review the test results and, if everything is in order, you will be enrolled in the egg donor programme.

You will need to submit all signed documents.

On this day we will give you your medication schedule and show you how to administer it. If you have any questions, just ask.

Ovarian stimulation and monitoring (10–12 days)

We will provide full instructions on how to start treatment and how to administer your medication. You will have access to an emergency phone line — available even on public holidays — for complete peace of mind.

You will need to attend the clinic on the scheduled days for ultrasound scans and blood tests. Following the instructions for both medication and monitoring appointments is essential to protect your health.

Egg retrieval (pick-up) under sedation

The egg retrieval is performed vaginally under ultrasound guidance and light sedation, supervised by an anaesthetist and the Love Fertility Clinic medical team.

After the procedure you will stay at the clinic for as long as needed until you are discharged. You will usually be able to go home within an hour and a half. We recommend taking it easy on the day of the procedure.

The following day, you can resume your normal routine, following the medical team’s instructions.

Post-donation check-up, discharge, and compensation

About a week later you will be invited back to the clinic for a gynaecological check-up with your doctor to confirm that everything is fine.

If your check-up is satisfactory, you will be discharged and receive your compensation.
